VOLVO
ECM-213C - Long-term fuel trim, bank 2. Signal too high
System

Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
To keep the fuel mixture right on bank 2, the engine control module has had to correct it heavily, and the long-term correction has nearly reached its limit at lower part load. Possible causes are air leaks in the intake or exhaust, low fuel pressure or a sensor that reads wrongly.
Possible causes
- Air leakage in the intake system
- Air leakage in the exhaust system
- Low fuel pressure
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor on bank 2
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, then clear it and road test the car
- 2Inspect the intake manifold and hoses for cracks, loose clamps and leaks
- 3Check that the fuel lines are not leaking and that there is no smell of fuel in the engine bay
- 4Check that the oil level is between the min and max marks on the dipstick, and that the oil is not contaminated
- 5Have a diagnostic tool? Read the bank 2 oxygen sensor value in live data at idle and see whether it swings between rich and lean
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop measure the fuel pressure and replace the bank 2 oxygen sensor if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
