What does this fault code mean?
This code is only stored during a quick lambda regulation test, which workshops use to check for remaining faults after a repair. If it is stored, it shows that a fault such as an air leak or low fuel pressure is still present and may cause lambda regulation problems in normal driving.
Possible causes
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor
- Intake air leakage
- Air leakage in the exhaust system
- Damaged mass air flow sensor
- Faulty signal from the affected sensor
What you can do
- 1If the code is stored after a repair, a fault is still present; fix it before going further
- 2Check the intake system for air leakage, for example the hoses to the brake booster and the EVAP valve
- 3Check the exhaust system for leaks at joints and seams
- 4Have a diagnostic tool? Read the oxygen sensor and mass air flow sensor values in live data at idle, and see whether they look plausible
- 5If no leak is found but the code is still stored, have a workshop measure the fuel pressure
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
