What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the signal wire to the control valve at the inlet and stores the code when the signal is too high. The fault can be caused by the signal wire being shorted to voltage or by a damaged control valve.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged control valve at the inlet
What you can do
- 1Check that the damper in the intake pipe has not stuck
- 2Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3Inspect the signal wire for chafing and pinching, and use a multimeter to check that it is not shorted to voltage
- 4If the wire is sound but the fault remains, have a workshop check the control valve
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
