What does this fault code mean?

The lambda regulation quick test can set this code, and workshops use the test to find leaks and fuel pressure faults. When the code is set, the fuel/air mixture has moved outside certain limits, which can cause lambda regulation codes during normal driving.

    Possible causes

    • Intake air leakage
    • Fuel pressure too low or too high
    • Leaking fuel injectors
    • Damaged mass air flow sensor
    • Contaminated engine oil or oil level too high
    • Damaged oxygen sensor, or too low a signal from it

    What you can do

    1. 1Fix the fault the code points to before going further
    2. 2Check the intake system for air leakage, for example the hose to the brake booster
    3. 3Look for fuel leaks and wet patches at the fuel lines
    4. 4Check that the oil level is between the min and max marks and that the oil is not contaminated
    5. 5Have a diagnostic tool? Read the fuel regulation and oxygen sensor values in live data at idle, and see whether they move smoothly
    6. 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel pressure and the injectors

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • No noticeable symptoms for the driver

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
