What does this fault code mean?
The code is stored when the long-term fuel trim for bank 1 has nearly reached its maximum at idle, even though the code is named for a signal that is too low. Causes can include intake leaks, high fuel pressure, leaking injectors, the mass air flow sensor, the engine oil or a damaged oxygen sensor.
Possible causes
- Intake leakage
- Fuel pressure is too high
- Injectors that leak
- Faulty mass air flow sensor
- Engine oil contaminated or level too high
- Damaged oxygen sensor on bank 1
What you can do
- 1Check the intake system for leaks and that the hoses are fitted securely
- 2Check that the oil level is between the min and max marks, and that the oil does not look contaminated
- 3Look for fuel leaks and fuel smell in the engine bay
- 4Have a diagnostic tool? Compare the long-term fuel trim for bank 1 at idle with the corresponding value for bank 2
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel pressure, the injectors and the bank 1 oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
