What does this fault code mean?
The oxygen sensor correction of the fuel mixture on bank 2 has nearly reached its upper limit at idle, which means the engine control module has to add more fuel than normal. The air and fuel are not in balance, and the fault can lie in an air leak in the intake or exhaust or in a damaged oxygen sensor.
Possible causes
- Intake air leakage
- Air leakage in the exhaust system
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor on bank 2
What you can do
- 1Check the intake system for leaks, including the hose to the brake booster and the EVAP valve hoses
- 2Check that hoses and connections on the intake side are secure and intact
- 3Check the exhaust system for leaks at joints and seams
- 4Have a diagnostic tool? Read the mass air flow correction factor with the engine at idle and check that the value looks plausible
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop look for leaks with smoke testing and check the bank 2 oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
