What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the signal from the heating of the rear oxygen sensor being too low. The fault can lie in a broken or grounded wire, a wire shorted to voltage, the heater resistor or the sensor. The sensor heating is then blocked.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Resistance too high in the heater resistor
- Signal cable short-circuited to voltage
- Defective oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the codes and note which are stored at the same time as this one
- 2Check the sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation, and do not use rust solvent spray or grease in it
- 3Inspect the wiring to the sensor for breaks, chafing and shorts to ground or voltage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire is not broken or shorted
- 5If the wiring and connector are sound but the fault remains, have a workshop try a new rear oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- Heating of the rear oxygen sensor is blocked
