What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has limited fuel injection, and the code is set when this happens. The cause may lie in turbo control, in fuel control or in the engine control module software.
Possible causes
- Fault in turbo control
- Fault in fuel control
- Fault in the engine control module software
What you can do
- 1First fix any other fault codes stored in the engine control module
- 2Make sure no air is leaking into the intake, both between the mass airflow sensor and the turbocharger and between the turbocharger and the intake pipe
- 3Look for signs of a fuel leak, such as wet patches or a fuel smell under the car
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the actual boost pressure with the calculated value in live data while the engine runs and changes speed
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check turbo control and fuel control, and whether the engine control module needs new software
Symptoms you may notice4
- Poor performance
- Message in the display
- Automatic start/stop of the engine does not work, both while driving and at idle
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly at steady speed
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
