What does this fault code mean?
The code applies to injector 2 and is set when the engine control module detects a fault on the wiring to the injector while the engine runs. The module drives each injector through its own power stage, where the voltage is above battery voltage. The fault may lie in the injector, the wiring or the control module.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal or ground wire to the injector
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Signal or ground wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Defective injector
- Defective charging system
- Defective engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector to injector 2 is secure and free from contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check the wires to injector 2 for breaks or shorts to ground or supply voltage
- 4Have a workshop measure the resistance of the injector
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the injector or the engine control module is defective
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine fails to start
- Engine not firing on all cylinders
