What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has found an electrical fault in the circuit to injector 4 while the engine was running. Each injector is driven by its own power stage inside the engine control module. The equivalent codes for the other cylinders are ECM-2311 to ECM-2315.
Possible causes
- Open or short circuit in the wiring to injector 4
- Poor contact or corrosion in the injector connector
- Faulty injector
- Supply voltage problem, such as loose battery terminals or a charging fault
- Faulty engine control module
What you can do
- 1Check the battery terminals and that the battery and charging system work
- 2Check the injector 4 connector for poor contact, oil contamination and corrosion
- 3Inspect the injector wiring for heat or chafing damage
- 4Have a workshop test the injector and wiring; replace the injector if it is faulty
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine does not run on all cylinders – rough running and reduced power
- The engine may be hard to start or not start
