What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent: the signal to injector 2 has dropped out at times but is not present at the moment. The engine control module (ECM) can also set the code when the signal is too high or too low, and then the fault often lies in the wire to the injector.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the power supply to the injector
- Contact resistance in the connections
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to injector 2 is firmly seated and not oxidised or loose
- 2With the ignition on, gently move the wire running from the injector back toward the control module and look for loose points
- 3Use a multimeter to check the supply from the system relay to injector 2
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: pull up the fault status and see whether it points to an intermittent fault right now
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the wiring or the injector needs attention
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine not firing on all cylinders
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
