What does this fault code mean?
The ECM keeps an eye on the signal reaching the cylinder 1 injector. When the signal is missing the code is set, and fuel injection in cylinder 1 then stops. The fault may lie in the wire, the connector or the injector.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the wiring to the injector
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to injector 1 has no break
- 3Check that the connector at injector 1 is secure and free from oxidation and contact resistance
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate injector 1 and listen for a click
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the valve and the wire to it
Symptoms you may notice5
- Engine fails to start
- Message in the display
- Poor performance and lack of power
- Engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly, especially on acceleration or deceleration
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
What the fault can affect1
- No fuel is sprayed into cylinder 1
