What does this fault code mean?
The ECM watches the signal feeding the cylinder 3 injector. If the signal is missing, the code is set and injection in that cylinder stops. The likely causes are a break in the wire or a damaged injector.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the wiring to the injector
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire to injector 3 runs all the way through
- 3Look at the connector at valve 3: it should be firmly seated and clean
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate injector 3 and listen for a click
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the valve or the wiring needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice4
- Engine fails to start
- Message in the display
- Poor performance and lack of power
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
What the fault can affect1
- Injection in cylinder 3 stops
