What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent and not present at the moment. The engine control module (ECM) registers that the signal on the cable to the CEM is too low. The cable is a backup route for fuel pump control if CAN communication is lost, so a brief break or a short to ground can set the code.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault code status and see whether the fault is permanent or intermittent
- 2Inspect the cable between the engine control module and the CEM for chafing, clamps and breaks, especially where it moves
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the cable is not shorted to ground
- 4Clear the fault code after the check and road test to see whether it comes back
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the wiring between the control modules
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
