What does this fault code mean?
Although the code refers to a faulty signal from the pressure sensor, it applies when the efficiency of the particle filter is too low. The ECM compares pressure readings from each side of the filter and stores the code when it detects this. The cause can be hoses to the sensor that are mixed up, kinked or loose, or a blocked or damaged particle filter.
Possible causes
- Hoses or pipes to the particle filter pressure sensor are mixed up
- Kinked hose
- Loose hose
- Blocked particle filter
- Damaged particle filter
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the hoses and pipes to the pressure sensor are on the correct connections and not swapped
- 3Look for kinked, loose or cracked hoses and make sure they are fully attached
- 4Check the connector to the pressure sensor for oxidation and loose connections
- 5If the hoses are intact and correctly fitted, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the particle filter for blockage and damage
Symptoms you may notice2
- The check engine light comes on
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
What the fault can affect1
- The engine may go into limp-home mode
