What does this fault code mean?
The ECM compares pressure readings from each side of the particle filter and checks that the pressure sensor signal follows a calculated value. The code is stored when the signal is uneven or unreasonable. The fault concerns the sensor signal and can be caused by a poor connection or a damaged pressure sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Damaged pressure sensor for the particle filter
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector to the particle filter pressure sensor for oxidation and loose connections
- 3Follow the wiring harness from the pressure sensor and look for chafing and pinch damage
- 4With a diagnostic tool, check the pressure sensor value in live data with the engine off. It should be low, and a value that jumps around points to the sensor
- 5If the connector and cable are intact, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check and, if needed, replace the pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice2
- The check engine light comes on
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
What the fault can affect1
- Engine output and speed may be limited
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
