What does this fault code mean?

The ECM compares pressure readings from each side of the particle filter and checks that the sensor signal follows a calculated value. The code is stored when the signal is too high, meaning higher than the calculation gives. The fault concerns the signal from the particle filter pressure sensor.

    Possible causes

    • Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
    • Ground lead short-circuited to supply voltage
    • Damaged particle filter pressure sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
    2. 2Look at the connector to the particle filter pressure sensor and make sure it is intact and fully seated
    3. 3Follow the signal and ground leads from the sensor and look for damaged insulation and places where a lead may have touched live voltage
    4. 4Use a multimeter to check that the cables are not short-circuited to supply voltage, meaning plus on the car
    5. 5If the cables are intact, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pressure sensor and replace it if needed

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • The check engine light comes on
    • Poor performance, the car lacks power

    What the fault can affect1

    • Engine output and speed may be limited

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
