What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is titled signal too low, it applies to an internal fault in the engine control module's control of the oxygen sensors. The fault lies in the module, so a temporary fault may have cleared on its own. If it recurs, the control module has to be replaced.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and make a shorter test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the battery is well charged, since low voltage can cause temporary faults in the control module
- 3Look at the connectors to the control module and make sure they are clean and fully seated
- 4If the fault returns after further checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment replace the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
