ECM-2463
VOLVO
ECM-2463 - Diesel Particulate Filter - Soot Accumulation
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The code means the diesel particulate filter is full of soot. The ECM compares pressure readings from each side of the filter and checks the pressure sensor signal, and the code is set when the filter is full. The soot has to be burned off, and that is done at a workshop.
Possible causes
- Blocked particle filter
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Damaged pressure sensor for the particle filter
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code before doing anything else, so the workshop has it
- 2Check the connector to the particle filter pressure sensor for oxidation and loose connections
- 3Avoid heavy load until the fault is fixed, since the engine may be limited
- 4Have a workshop burn off the soot in the particle filter and check that the control module has the latest software
- 5If the soot cannot be burned off, the particle filter must be replaced, which the workshop decides after checking
Symptoms you may notice2
- The check engine light comes on
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
What the fault can affect1
- Engine output and speed may be limited
