What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is titled signal missing, it applies when the pump current to the front oxygen sensor on bank 1 has stopped. The sensor signal is then set to a default value, and the code is stored.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the cable for pump current
- Contact resistance and oxidation at the connections
- Damaged front heated oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test to see whether it comes back
- 2Look at the oxygen sensor connector for oxidation or loose connections. Rust solvent spray and grease must not be used
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the pump current cable has no open circuit
- 4If possible, measure from the back of the connector so it is not damaged and does not become a loose contact later
- 5If the connector and cable are intact but the fault remains, have a workshop replace the oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
