What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has detected a fault in its own system for controlling the injection valves. The fault may be caused by system voltage that is too low, damaged injection valves, a software fault or an internal fault in the control module.
Possible causes
- System voltage too low
- Damaged injection valves
- Software fault in the engine control module (ECM)
- Internal electronic fault in the ECM
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery has sufficient voltage, since system voltage that is too low can cause the fault
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and try starting the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Follow the cables to the injection valves and look for open circuits, chafing and loose connectors
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cables to the injection valves have no open circuit
- 5If nothing is found, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment decide whether the control module needs replacing or reprogramming
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
