What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means the fuel pressure in the rail is too low compared with what the ECM sends to the fuel pressure control valve. The cause may be a clogged filter, a leak or a damaged pump, valve or pressure safety valve.
Possible causes
- Clogged fuel filter
- Blockage or leakage in the fuel supply
- Damaged pressure safety valve
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
- Damaged fuel pump
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If the fuel filter has not been changed for a long time, it may be clogged and causing low pressure
- 3Look for leaks in the fuel system after the injection pump, and check for wet patches or a smell of fuel
- 4Make sure the connectors to the fuel pressure control valve and the fuel pressure sensor are firmly attached and free from oxidation
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the fuel pressure control valve and check that the fuel pressure in live data rises when it is activated
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the pressure safety valve, the fuel pump and the fuel pressure
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine feels sluggish
- Engine speed is limited
What the fault can affect1
- Fuel supply is reduced for as long as the fault is active
