What does this fault code mean?
At certain operating modes, with a warm engine, the engine control module (ECM) regulates fuel pressure using the fuel flow control valve. If the ECM detects that the fuel pressure is too low in such a mode, the code is set. The fault may be caused by a leak, air in the fuel lines, a clogged fuel filter or a damaged component in the fuel system.
Possible causes
- Leakage in the fuel system
- Air in the fuel lines
- Clogged fuel filter
- Damaged tank pump
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel flow control valve
What you can do
- 1Read and act on any fault codes for the tank pump first, then clear the code and road test the car
- 2Look for fuel leaks at the connections and the injectors, and check that the fuel filter is not clogged
- 3Check that the fuel lines are not kinked and that the fuel pressure sensor connector is secure and free from oxidation
- 4With diagnostic equipment, follow the fuel pressure sensor's live data with the engine running and see whether the value drops under load
- 5Have a workshop check the fuel flow control valve and the tank pump if the fault returns after these checks
Symptoms you may notice2
- Message in the display
- The engine stalls
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module uses a calculated value instead of the measured signal
