What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the position sensor in the turbocharger vacuum actuator. If the signal is uneven or missing altogether, the ECM treats it as a fault and the code is set.
Possible causes
- Poor contact from worn or loose connections, or oxidation, in the connectors and wiring
- Damaged position sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector to the position sensor is secure and free from oxidation
- 3With the ignition on, gently move the connector and wiring and see whether the signal jumps
- 4With diagnostic equipment, read the sensor value with the ignition on and see whether it jumps or disappears
- 5Have a workshop replace the position sensor if the connectors and wiring are intact
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (Check engine) lights up or behaves abnormally
