What does this fault code mean?
This is a follow-on code: the engine control module (ECM) has received a message on the CAN network about an emissions-related fault in the additive dosing module (ADM), or has found that communication between the modules is not working. The root fault lies in the ADM or the central electronic module (CEM) and should be fixed first. The code can then be erased.
Possible causes
- A fault in the additive dosing module (ADM)
- A fault in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Faulty communication on the CAN network between the modules
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the additive dosing module (ADM) first, then in the central electronic module (CEM)
- 2Fix the root faults according to their codes, then erase this code
- 3Check the condition of the battery and that its terminals are tight, since low voltage can cause communication faults
- 4Have a workshop check the CAN network communication if the ADM or CEM cannot be read
