What does this fault code mean?
In certain operating modes, such as when the engine is cold, fuel pressure is controlled only by the fuel pressure control valve. If the pressure is too low in such a mode, the code is set. The fault may lie in the fuel lines, the sensor, one of the valves or the injectors.
Possible causes
- Air in the fuel lines
- Leakage in the fuel system
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged injector
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
- Damaged fuel flow control valve
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes for the tank pump and fix them first, then clear this code and road test the car
- 2Look for leaks in the fuel system and check that the fuel filter is not clogged
- 3Think about whether anything has recently been done to the fuel system, since air may have entered the lines
- 4Check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5With diagnostic equipment, compare the fuel pressure sensor's live data when the engine is cold with how it looks once warm
- 6Have a workshop check the injectors and the fuel flow control valve if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice2
- Message in the information display
- The engine stalls
What the fault can affect1
- A calculated value is used instead of the measured pressure
