What does this fault code mean?

In some operating modes, for example with a cold engine, fuel pressure is controlled only by the fuel pressure control valve. The ECM flags a pressure that is too low in such a mode, and the code is set.

    Possible causes

    • Faulty tank pump
    • Leakage in the fuel system
    • Clogged fuel filter
    • Faulty fuel pressure sensor
    • Faulty injector
    • Faulty fuel flow control valve

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the fault codes for the tank pump first and fix them. Then clear this code and road test the car
    2. 2Look for leaks in the fuel system and check that the fuel filter is not clogged
    3. 3Check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance, oxidation and looseness
    4. 4With diagnostic equipment, read the fuel pressure sensor's value at idle and check that it looks plausible
    5. 5Have a workshop check the injectors and the fuel flow control valve if the fault remains

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • Message in the information display

    What the fault can affect1

    • The pressure is calculated by the ECM instead of being measured

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
