What does this fault code mean?
If the ECM finds the pressure too high in an operating mode where only the fuel pressure control valve controls it, for example with a cold engine, the code is set. The cause may lie in the sensor or the valve.
Possible causes
- The fuel pressure sensor is damaged
- No voltage supply to the fuel pressure control valve
- The fuel pressure control valve is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the fuel pressure sensor has no open circuit
- 4With diagnostic equipment, read the fuel pressure sensor's live data when the engine is cold and check that the value looks reasonable
- 5Have a workshop check the voltage supply to the fuel pressure control valve if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice3
- Message in the information display
- The engine knocks
- The engine stalls
What the fault can affect1
- The fuel pressure in the engine control module is replaced by a calculated value
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
