What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) adjusts the fuel quantity based on the oxygen sensor signal using a long-term correction. When the correction reaches its lower limit, the mixture is too rich, and the ECM has reduced the fuel quantity as far as it is allowed to.
Possible causes
- High fuel pressure
- Leaking injectors
- Faulty mass air flow (MAF) sensor
- Contaminated engine oil
- Oil level too high
What you can do
- 1Make sure the oil sits between the min and max marks on the dipstick, and that it does not appear diluted or smell of fuel
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, read the long-term correction with the engine idling and see whether the value is steady
- 3Have a workshop check the fuel pressure and any leaking injectors if the fault remains
- 4Have a workshop check the mass air flow sensor if the fault remains after these checks
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
