What does this fault code mean?
A long-term correction of the fuel quantity follows the oxygen sensor signal. When it reaches its lower limit, meaning it cannot reduce the fuel any further, the mixture is running rich and the code is set.
Possible causes
- Fuel pressure is set too high
- Injectors leak fuel
- The MAF sensor is defective and gives a wrong value
- The engine oil has become contaminated
- There is too much oil in the engine
What you can do
- 1Check the oil level on the dipstick. It should sit between the marks, and being above the max mark is one possible cause
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, read the long-term correction while driving and see whether it is stable
- 3Have a workshop check the fuel pressure and the injectors if the fault remains
- 4Have a workshop measure the mass air flow sensor's correction factor and replace it if it is defective
