What does this fault code mean?
The control module keeps an eye on the bypass valve's signal in the thermostat housing. If the signal becomes too high, the code is set. The fault lies in the signal wire having contact with supply voltage.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the wiring to the bypass valve for chafing and for spots where it may have touched a live wire
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with supply voltage
- 4If the fault returns after clearing and a road test, and no cause is found, have a workshop replace the bypass valve
Symptoms you may notice2
- The electric cooling fan runs all the time
- The air conditioning does not work
