ECM-270A
VOLVO
ECM-270A - Adaptive lambda control, bank 2. Bottom limit
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (1999–2006), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
On bank 2 the ECM adjusts the fuel quantity from the oxygen sensor signal. When the long-term correction reaches its lower limit, the mixture on that bank is too rich, and the ECM cannot reduce the fuel any further.
Possible causes
- High fuel pressure
- Leaking injectors
- Defective mass air flow (MAF) sensor
- Contaminated engine oil
- Too much oil in the engine
What you can do
- 1Look at the oil level on the dipstick and whether the oil appears diluted or contaminated
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, read the long-term correction for bank 2 at idle and see whether it is steady
- 3Have a workshop check the fuel pressure and the injectors if the fault remains
- 4Have a workshop check the mass air flow sensor if the fault remains after these checks
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
