What does this fault code mean?
The control module checks the calibration signal from the oxygen sensor. The code is set when that signal is found to be incorrect, here too low, and a short to ground in the signal cable or a damaged sensor can cause it.
Possible causes
- Signal cable shorted to ground
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Switch off the ignition and check that the oxygen sensor connector is secure and undamaged
- 2With the car switched off, use a multimeter to check that the signal cable is not in contact with ground
- 3Look for chafing and pinching on the signal cable, especially where it could touch the body
- 4If the cable is intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensor and the control with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- Message in the information display
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses the last value it measured from the sensor
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
