What does this fault code mean?

The engine control module monitors the temperature signal from the sensor built into the fuel pressure sensor. The code is stored when the control module receives no signal at all from that sensor. The cause may be a broken signal or ground wire, a short in the signal wire, poor contact or a damaged sensor.

    Possible causes

    • Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
    • Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
    • Signal wire shorted to ground
    • Break in the signal wire
    • Break in the signal ground wire
    • Damaged fuel temperature sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Clear the code, start the engine and see whether it returns
    2. 2With a diagnostic tool, check the fuel temperature in live data with the ignition on. A missing value means the signal itself is absent
    3. 3Switch off the ignition and check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor, where the temperature sensor sits, for oxidation and contact resistance
    4. 4With the car switched off, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire and the ground wire are not broken
    5. 5If the connector and wiring are in order but the fault remains, have a workshop replace the fuel pressure sensor, which contains the temperature sensor

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • No noticeable symptoms for the driver

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
