What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module reads the fuel temperature sensor, which is built into the fuel pressure sensor. The code is set when that signal is too high. The cause may be a signal cable shorted to ground or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal cable shorted to ground
- Damaged fuel temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and drive for a while to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel temperature in live data with the engine running. A value that stays constantly high or never changes points to the sensor or wiring
- 3With the car switched off, use a multimeter to check that the signal cable is not shorted to ground
- 4If the cable is in order but the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel pressure sensor, which contains the temperature sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
