What does this fault code mean?
The control module saves the fuel, intake and engine temperature readings at the moment of start and compares them afterwards. The code is set when the fuel temperature is too far above the others. The cause may be a damaged fuel temperature sensor or poor contact in the connections.
Possible causes
- Damaged fuel temperature sensor
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1With a diagnostic tool, read the fuel temperature in live data at the moment a cold engine starts and compare it with the intake and engine temperatures
- 2Switch off the ignition and check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Start the engine, let it run for a while and read the code again to see whether it returns
- 4If the connector is in order but the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel temperature sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
What the fault can affect1
- A predefined value is used for the fuel temperature
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
