What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) calculates the soot quantity in the particulate trap and checks the pressure difference before and after the trap. The fault code reads as a faulty signal, but it is set when the soot quantity is too high, so the trap is clogged.
Possible causes
- Hard driving
- Clogged particulate trap
- Damaged pressure sensor for the particulate trap
What you can do
- 1Read fault codes from the other control modules first, as faults in other engine functions can trigger this code
- 2Look for leaks and damage in the intake system
- 3Check that the hoses to the particulate trap pressure sensor are airtight and undamaged
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data whether the pressure difference across the particulate trap responds when the engine is revved
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the power supply and connection to the pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor performance
- The malfunction indicator light (MIL) comes on
What the fault can affect1
- Engine output and engine speed are limited
