What does this fault code mean?

The engine control module (ECM) monitors the pressure difference before and after the particulate trap. The fault code is set when the signal from the sensor is faulty, for example if the sensor has frozen or is damaged.

    Possible causes

    • The sensor has frozen
    • Damaged differential pressure sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1If the car has been standing outside in the cold, leave it indoors for a while, then start the engine to see whether the code clears
    2. 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
    3. 3Check the connections to the pressure sensor for loose contact, contact resistance and oxidation
    4. 4With a diagnostic tool, read the pressure sensor in live data: low with ignition on, slightly higher at idle
    5. 5If it returns after the road test, have a workshop check the pressure sensor

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • No noticeable symptoms for the driver

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
