What does this fault code mean?

The engine control module (ECM) monitors the pressure difference before and after the particulate trap. The fault code is set when the signal from the sensor is faulty, which can be caused by damaged or swapped hoses to the pressure sensor, or by a damaged differential pressure sensor.

    Possible causes

    • The hoses to the particulate trap pressure sensor are swapped
    • Damaged connection hose or pipe to the differential pressure sensor
    • Damaged differential pressure sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Check that the hoses and pipes to the particulate trap pressure sensor are not damaged
    2. 2Look at whether the hoses were reconnected wrongly after any earlier work on the exhaust system or the sensor
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check the pressure sensor value in live data with the engine idling and see that it is steady
    4. 4Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
    5. 5If the hoses are undamaged and correctly fitted but the fault remains, have a workshop check the pressure sensor

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • No noticeable symptoms for the driver

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
