What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has registered that the burn-off of soot in the particulate trap did not finish within the permitted time. The fault code is set in that case and can indicate that the trap has overheated or been damaged.
Possible causes
- Overheated particulate trap
- Damaged particulate trap
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data whether the particulate trap temperature is abnormally high when the engine runs
- 3If the fault returns, have a workshop check the particulate trap, as it may be damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator light (MIL) comes on
What the fault can affect1
- The soot burn-off is ended
