What does this fault code mean?
The ECM keeps watch on the exhaust system temperature. The fault code is set when the particulate trap temperature sensor signal is faulty.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged temperature sensor for the particulate trap
What you can do
- 1Disconnect the connector at the particulate trap temperature sensor and check it for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to confirm that the wire to the sensor has continuity, meaning no open circuit
- 3Read the code, clear it and drive the car for a while to see whether the fault returns
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop measure the sensor resistance
Symptoms you may notice1
- A message appears in the information display
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
