What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the pressure difference before and after the particulate trap. The fault code is set when the signal from the differential pressure sensor is faulty, for example because of swapped or damaged hoses, poor contact or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- The hoses to the particulate trap pressure sensor have been swapped
- Damaged connection hose or pipe to the differential pressure sensor
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged differential pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the hoses and pipes to the differential pressure sensor for damage and leaks
- 2Check that the hoses are not swapped with each other
- 3Check the connector at the differential pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation, and make sure it is secure
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the differential pressure sensor signal in live data and check that it responds when the engine idles
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop measure the supply voltage to the sensor and check the wiring
