What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the pressure difference with a calculation model to check the particulate trap and the catalytic converter. The fault code is set when the particulate trap is blocked or clogged, or when the catalytic converter is damaged.
Possible causes
- The particulate trap is full of soot
- Damaged connection hose or pipe to the differential pressure sensor
- Damaged differential pressure sensor
- Damaged particulate trap
- Damaged catalytic converter
What you can do
- 1Read and trace other stored fault codes first. This code can be caused by faults in other parts of the engine
- 2Check that the hoses to the intake system are secure and not leaking
- 3Check the hoses and pipes to the differential pressure sensor for damage and leaks
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the pressure difference in live data during a road test and see whether it rises clearly
- 5Have a workshop check the particulate trap and the catalytic converter, as they may be damaged and need assessing
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor performance
- A message appears in the information display
What the fault can affect2
- The car runs in limp-home mode
- Engine torque is limited
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
