Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors the circuit to the injector for cylinder 1. The fault code is set when the signal in that circuit is too low, which can be caused by the signal wire being shorted to ground or by a damaged injector.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector and wire to the injector for cylinder 1 for chafing where it may have touched the body
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the injector for cylinder 1 has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the signal of the cylinder 1 injector with the other cylinders in live data
- 5If the fault remains after checking the wire, have a workshop check the injector
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
- The engine is not running on all cylinders
