What does this fault code mean?
The signal to the injector for cylinder 3 is missing. The fault may be caused by poor contact, breaks in the wiring, a damaged injector or a damaged mass air flow sensor.
Possible causes
- Damaged injector
- Open circuit in the power supply to the injector
- Poor contact in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged mass air flow (MAF) sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connections at the cylinder 3 injector for play and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the cylinder 3 injector has no break, and that supply voltage reaches the injector
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: run an activation of the cylinder 3 injector and listen for a click
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop assess the injector and the mass air flow sensor
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
- The engine is not running on all cylinders
