What does this fault code mean?
The injector for cylinder 3 gives a signal that is too high. The fault may come from a short to supply voltage in the wiring or from a defective injector.
Possible causes
- Short to supply voltage in the signal wire
- Defective injector
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Inspect the cylinder 3 signal wire for pinching and chafing, as a short can occur right there
- 3With ignition on and the engine off, use a multimeter to see whether the cylinder 3 signal wire carries supply voltage. It should not
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: see in live data whether cylinder 3 differs from the others at idle
- 5If the wire is intact but the fault remains, have a workshop test the injector
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
- The engine is not running on all cylinders
