What does this fault code mean?
The fault code shows that the signal is missing in the circuit to the injector for cylinder 4. The engine may then not run on all cylinders, and the cause can be a wire, a connector or the injector itself.
Possible causes
- Loose or oxidised connection to the injector
- Open circuit in the power supply to the cylinder 4 injector
- Damaged injector
- Damaged mass air flow (MAF) sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the cylinder 4 injector, making sure it is secure and clean
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the cylinder 4 injector has no open circuit
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the cylinder 4 injector status in live data and compare it with the other cylinders
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the mass air flow sensor and the injector
