What does this fault code mean?
The signal to the injector for cylinder 6 is too high. It may come from a short to supply voltage in the signal wire or from a damaged injector.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test
- 2Look for chafing or pinching on the cylinder 6 wire, as it may have touched a live source
- 3With ignition on, use a multimeter to check that the cylinder 6 signal wire is not shorted to supply voltage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: with ignition on, compare the cylinder 6 signal with the other cylinders in live data
- 5If the wire is undamaged but the fault remains, have a workshop test the cylinder 6 injector
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
- The engine is not running on all cylinders
