What does this fault code mean?
In some operating modes, such as when the engine is cold, fuel pressure is controlled only by the fuel pressure control valve. The fault code is set when the module detects that the control signal to that valve is faulty.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it, then try starting the engine again
- 2Check the connector at the fuel pressure control valve for contact resistance, oxidation and play
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the valve wire has no open circuit or short to ground (the body)
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the fuel pressure control valve with ignition on and listen for it working
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the valve and its supply
