What does this fault code mean?
The ECM keeps a watch on the fuel metering valve and its function. The fault code is set when the PWM signal that controls the valve is faulty.
Possible causes
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
- Open circuit in the power supply
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged fuel metering control valve
- The valve sticks, or contamination such as water or dirt is present in the fuel system
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the fuel metering valve for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the valve have no open circuit
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the valve control in live data with the engine running, and see whether it changes when the engine is revved
- 5Have a workshop check the valve if it sticks, or if there is contamination in the fuel system
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
